“Take time to invest in yourself as much as others…By doing so, I have seen that the impact I can have on others is greater when I am in a better place and space”
This quarter’s focus: What are you doing to renew yourself?
As training professionals we spend our days, and many times nights, thinking of new ways to teach, motivate and inspire our learners as well as promote talent development within our organizations. We should also take the time to stop and think about what is inspiring us and filling our proverbial buckets as we strive to keep up our enthusiasm in the classroom or office. I recently attended the ATD 2016 International Conference and Exposition in Denver, Colorado and what a great opportunity it was to network with fellow training professionals, learn about industry trends and attend several professional development sessions. I encourage anyone who has never attended to put next year’s event on your calendar, taking place much closer to home in Atlanta May 21st-24th.
In the meantime, what are your professional development needs? What kind of programs or networking events would you like to see? My goal is that this chapter can be a place for you to learn, connect and grow and that we can help meet your development needs throughout the year. Stay tuned for a variety of interesting programs later this summer and fall as well as an ATD Training Certificate program we will be hosting in September. In addition, there are always events going on in the surrounding area including the ATD MidSouth Conference and Expo taking place this year on Friday September 16th in Nashville. We would love to hear from you as we begin to plan events and programming for 2017. We are also currently looking for board members for next year and if you would like to get more involved with the chapter please let us know. Thank you for investing in our chapter and I look forward to connecting at one of our upcoming events.
