Technical expertise alone is not enough to ensure professional success.  Twenty-first century engineers and technical professionals must master making the complex simple and the simple interesting.  Engineered to Speak was written to help technical professionals do what they love most: take a complicated problem and design an efficient solution.  You will learn tips and strategies that help you answer one essential question, "How can I get better at sharing my ideas with a variety of audiences?"

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the connection between communication and career advancement.
  • Learn the questions to ask before preparing any presentation.
  • Learn how to structure a powerful attention-getting introduction.

SPEAKER:

Dr. Alexa Chilcutt
, is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Public Speaking Program at the University of Alabama.  Alexa also works for Johns Hopkins' Carey Business School as an Executive Education faculty member where she provides programs in the areas of leadership, team communication, and effective workplace presentations.  She is the co-author of Wiley IEEE Press' Professional Series books, "Engineered to Speak" with Dr. Adam Brooks.
