ASTD Recognizes the Greater Chattanooga Area Chapter

in its “Sharing Our Success” Program

Chattanooga, TN, 9/5/2013 – The Greater Chattanooga Area Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) was recognized for its submission to the ASTD “Sharing Our Success” (SOS) program. The national SOS program identifies best practices among local ASTD chapters and uses them as models for other chapters.

Gale Mote, Chair of ASTD’s Chapter Recognition Committee said, "This recognition honors the Greater Chattanooga Area Chapter’s best practice that demonstrates its commitment to managing a successful organization as well as advancing the learning and development profession at the local level. We are excited to honor the chapter with ASTD's SOS recognition."

The Greater Chattanooga Area Chapter has been recognized for the success of its July 2012 “Book Safari” networking event.  Training and development professionals all have an inventory of existing resources that they have used (successfully or unsuccessfully) and no longer need including books, videos, CDs, etc.  The chapter invited all members to bring those to this exchange.  The event was held in the lounge of a restaurant and dubbed a “book safari” because each table was set up with safari/treasure category name, and a SME organized each table of resources.  It was a networking expo of training resources with the users/experts present to share their experiences, cases, successes, and guidance.
